📏 As the Association of Polish Spring Manufacturers (SPPS), we actively participate in shaping technical standards for the spring industry.
We are a member of Technical Committee 145 for High-Quality and Special Steels within the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN). This allows us to:
🔹 directly contribute to the development and updating of standards related to springs and spring materials,
🔹 represent the real needs and perspectives of the industry,
🔹 advocate for the interests of Polish manufacturers at both national and European levels.
🌍 Importantly, SPPS also has a voice within the structures of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This enables us to influence standards adopted across Europe and globally – effectively contributing to worldwide technical standards.

On 19 September 2025, members of the Association of Polish Spring Manufacturers (SPPS) took part in the 12th International Congress of the European Spring Federation (ESF) held in the prestigious setting of Versailles, France.
👉 The event brought together over 150 participants from around the world, offering an excellent opportunity for sharing insights, building international relationships, and discussing the future of the spring industry.

On March 28, 2025, we had the pleasure of joining the European Spring Federation (ESF) Board Meeting, hosted in the picturesque town of Halblech, Germany.
The evening before, 15 representatives from 8 countries gathered at the König Ludwig Hotel. The atmosphere was amazing – we talked about challenges and opportunities in the European spring industry and exchanged ideas in a friendly and inspiring setting.
Our hosts, Mathias Bihler and Markus Schnöll, gave us a fantastic tour of Bihler's production facilities – it was a real highlight of the trip!
After a delicious Bavarian lunch, we took part in the official General Assembly, where we worked together on strengthening our collaboration and finalized plans for the 12th International Spring Industry Congress, which will take place on September 19, 2025, in Versailles.
And to top it off – we visited the legendary Neuschwanstein Castle on Saturday morning. A perfect ending!

On October 18 - 20 this year, the 3rd meeting of the Association of Polish Spring Producers was held at the Sapieha castle in Krasiczyn.
This event has already become a tradition and is permanently included in the calendar of cyclical meetings of entrepreneurs focused on the Polish spring industry.
After discussing internal matters concerning the Association, the speakers were given the floor.
Dr. Agnieszka Nowaczek from the Institute of Mineral Raw Materials and Energy of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a circular economy expert, in a lecture on "Circular economy - new trends and challenges", discussed important aspects of the requirements for environmental management in the field of circular economy, which is becoming more and more a greater challenge for producers.
Then they spoke:
Dr. Michael Hagedorn, General Secretary of the ESF (European Spring Federation) in a lecture on "The Whole is greater than the Sum of its Parts".
Dr. Andres Weinrich, Chairman of ISO TC227, VDFI (Verband der Deutschen Federnindustrie) in a lecture on "Standards: The Invisible Structure of Our Daily Lives and Opportunities for Spring Manufacturers", and Dr. Richard Dignall, Technical Director of IST (Institute of Spring Technology) in a lecture on "Bridging the Gap: Addressing the Knowledge Crisis in the Global Spring Industry".
After listening to a series of lectures and mutual exchange of experiences, attention was paid primarily to the changing and tightening EU directives regarding environmental protection in our industry, and the unification of standards related to the production of springs, as well as the implementation of systems enabling innovation in their design, were also discussed.
In addition to the substantive content, during the conference we also found time for conversation, meetings, visiting the beautiful surroundings, learning about the traditions, culture and regional cuisine of the Krasiczyn region.
Experience has shown that meetings of this type are very desirable and necessary, and the only way to increase the competitiveness of the Polish spring market is the cooperation of entities involved in it.

On September 11-13, 2024 in Milan, was held a meeting of the International Technical Committee ISO/TC 227 dealing with standardization in the field of metal springs. In addition to the plenary meeting, there was also a meeting of the International Working Group dealing with the revision of the ISO 16249 standard describing symbols for the spring industry, which is part of this committee. Representatives from the USA, China, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Poland are involved in the project.
In this standardization body, as Poland, we are represented by Mr. Oscar Sowa, who is a member of the Polish Spring Manufacturers Association (SPPS) and a delegate of the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN) to ISO/TC 227 as a technical expert and head of Polish delegation.
One of the primary goals of standardization is to promote quality and safety in products, in this case in springs, which very often play a responsible role in many mechanical systems.
As an association, we are proud that we can take an active part in revising or creating new standards, while sharing our experience and knowledge.
On April 17, 2024, during the WIRE fair in Dusseldorf, the International Conference of Spring Manufacturers organized by ESF - European Spring Federation was held. The Polish Spring Manufacturers Association, as a member of ESF, was well represented, for which we would like to thank the members of our association. The conference touched upon many important issues that concern or will concern all producers in our industry. Dr. Andres Weinrich, head of the ISO/TC 227 commission, presented the current situation in the field of spring standardization in the world and presented activities planned for the future. The presentation of the FRED organization – CO2 Footprint Calculation – also deserves special attention. This software is used to calculate the carbon footprint of products such as springs and is dedicated to them. At the end, we listened to a presentation about the situation in the steel industry in Germany and the upcoming challenges. After the conference, during an open meeting of participants, we had the opportunity to talk and exchange experiences with our industry colleagues from other countries.
On April 9, 2024, a seminar on the technology of producing compression springs was held at the Faculty of Mechanical and Technology of the Rzeszów University of Technology in Stalowa Wola. Students, academics and business representatives were present at the meeting. The seminar described the process of creating spring wire, its classification and the entire technological process for compression springs. The event was intended to transfer technological knowledge from the spring industry directly to universities and students. Many of them will encounter springs in their future work and they may prove to be a big challenge, especially if they are not taken into account at the appropriate stage of the design phase. As an industry organization, we want to support both future and current engineers in this aspect. The event in Stalowa Wola was the first in a series of meetings of this type throughout Poland. We would like to thank the academic staff for such a warm welcome, and the students for their intense attention and activity during the seminar.
